Photo Assignment 4: Black and White

Exposure Triangle
  • FNumber- 8
  • Shutter Speed- 1/200
  • ISO- 200

I didn't have much time this weekend so I did the black and white assignment.  I took many of my pictures and turned them into black and white with photo shop.  I didn't realize how many different settings there are for black and white.

This assignment went okay.  Because I didn't have much time I couldn't take any quality pictures.  Luckily photo shop is awesome.

Context Assignment

In this assignment we had to take a picture of the school and then we had take it and put it into photo shop.  In photo shop we had to put pictures from the internet into our picture of the school.  We were advised to have a specific theme in our picture.

This assignment went really well.  I understand photo shop a lot and had to help many of my classmates.  Using the selection tool and the clone stamp helped a lot.

Panoramic Photo's

In this assignment we had to go around and outside of the school and take panoramic pictures.  Panoramic pictures are a series of pictures where you pan across taking a picture overlapping the previous picture 1/3 length.  Then we put it into photo shop and it fitted all the edges and corners together to make a panoramic picture.

I learned in this assignment to take panoramic pictures and how to take good pictures so the focus was the same on all of the pictures.  As you pan across the landscape you must keep the camera still with a tripod.

Photo Assignment 3: Nature

Exposure Triangle:
  • Shutter Speed - 1/499
  • F-Number - 8
  • ISO - 200

In this assignment I took pictures of nature.  Many pictures of the clouds were taken in the morning right as the sun was coming up.  Many of the flowers were dying so it took time to get good pictures of them.
This assignment went very well. Mos of my pictures were very clear and the color popped out.  Other ones were good when the hornet was sitting on the flower.  For this assignment I used the macro setting a lot but did not zoom all the way in.

Photo Assignment 2: Motion

Exposure Triangle:

  • FNumber- 5
  • ISO- 100
  • Shutter Speed- 1/125

In this assignment I had to take pictures of motion.  I took my dads camera to my could be last soccer practice and took some action shots of my teammates.  Many of the pictures are of people shooting or crossing the ball into the box.

This assignment went good.  The lighting want the best but photo shop helped that.  I was standing behind the goal most of the time to take these pictures.  Overall the motion blur was good.

Photo Assignment 1: Animal

Image Triangle:
  • Shutter Speed - 1/100
  • ISO - 100
  • F-Number - 5.6
In this assignment I had to take a picture of animals for this assignment.  Instead of just taking a picture of my dog sleeping I had her sprint around my yard.  She does this all the time and even does a little hop/skip while she runs.

This assignment went okay.  I couldn't get the most clear picture ever.  The sunlight was perfect though with the setting sun in the right side of my picture. Otherwise the small blurriness my pictures were great.

Car Retouch

Before

After
In this assignment we learned our way around Photo Shop using many of the tools we will be using to touch up our photos.  The assignment was to take a photo from a car show and make our picture look like the retouch-up photo.  We first had to crop the picture to cut out some of the background.  Then we had to change the color f the car to match the demo photo as best as we can.  Then we used the stamp tool to touch up the light reflections on the cars hood and make it look like they weren't there.  The we used the selection tool to select the outline of the car then we painted the background pitch black to make the guys face disappear.  Using the selection tool again we tinted the window to make it look a little darker.  I learned a lot about photo shop and touching up photos.

Motion Demo

We went outside and took pictures of Mr. O'Donnell ride his motorcycle up and down the street as we took pictures of him. I learned all about how the shutter speed can change the motion blur of a picture.  The faster the shutter speed the sharper the picture or object will be.  As the shutter is open for a longer period of time the more motion blur there will be.

Next week's Photo

For next weeks assignment I am going to take the animal picture.  I will try and take a picture of my dog as she sprints and frolics around my back yard.  As she jumps getting her in mid air could also show so motion.  I could also have a lot of opportunities because I'm going to my cousins house and they have tons of pets along with a few dogs and a cat.
